Formalin-fixed tissues are processed and embedded in paraffin; serial sections are stained with hematoxylin-and-eosin and examined by light microscopy. Special stains are obtained when indicated.

Specimen Requirements

Tissue from skin or mucosa. Send specimen in 10% formalin in regular serum vials. Vials with 10% formalin are supplied.

Note:  Biopsy site, physician’s name, and clinical diagnosis are required on request form for processing.
