Specimen Requirements

Draw blood in a gold-top serum gel tube(s). Spin down and send 1 mL (minimum volume:  0.5 mL) of serum refrigerated.  Room temp: 2 days, refrig: 2 weeks, froz: 1 month.

Note:  Positive specimens are automatically confirmed by T. pallidum particle agglutination (TPPA) at the Washington State Public Health Laboratory.
