Methodology

Lateral Flow Immunochromatography

Note:  This is a screening test only and will give a positive result for morphine, codeine, hydrocodone, and demerol. This test is less sensitive for oxycodone. Poppy seeds from bakery products may give a positive result. Specimen may be sent out for confirmation if Providence Alaska Medical Center Laboratory is notified within 1 week from date results were received.

Specimen Requirements

10 mL (minimum volume:  3 mL) from a random urine collection in a leakproof, plastic urine container. No preservative. Send specimen refrigerated.

Cutoff:  300 ng/mL

Stability

Room temp: 8 hours

Refrigerated:  4 days

Frozen:  2 months
