Specimen Requirements


Submit only 1 of the following specimens: 
Plasma

Draw blood in a green-top (lithium heparin) tube(s). Spin down, separate plasma from cells, and send 1 mL (minimum volume:  0.3 mL) of lithium heparin plasma refrigerated.

Note:  1. Indicate plasma on request form.
2. Label specimen appropriately (plasma).

 

Serum

Draw blood in a gold-top serum gel tube(s). Spin down, separate serum from cells, and send 1 mL (minimum volume:  0.3 mL) of serum refrigerated.

Note:  1. Indicate serum on request form.
2. Label specimen appropriately (serum)

Males

0 minutes-10 years:  1.9-5.4 mg/dL

10-18 years:  3.5-7.3 mg/dL

18-129 years:  4.4-8.5 mg/dL

Females

0 minutes-10 years:  1.9-5.4 mg/dL

10-18 years:  3.5-7.3 mg/dL

18-129 years:  3.1-8.0 mg/dL
