Methodology

Enzymatic Rate

Specimen Requirements

Draw blood in a gold-top (serum gel) tube(s). Spin down, separate plasma from cells, and send 2 mL (minimum volume:  0.3 mL) of serum at room temperature. DO NOT REFRIGERATE. Avoid hemolysis.

 

Plasma samples are not acceptable due to significant bias from serum samples.

 

Alternate:

Draw blood in a red-top serum tube(s).

Spin down, separate serum from cells, and send 2 mL (minimum volume:  0.3 mL) of serum.

Samples should remain at room temperature.  Do NOT refrigerate

 

Avoid hemolysis. Samples with more than 1+ hemolysis will be rejected.

0 minutes - 5 years:  140-304 IU/L
5 -10 years:  155-290 IU/L
10 -15 years:  115-257 IU/L
15+ years:  140-271 IU/L


Females
0 minutes - 5 years:  142-297 IU/L
5 -10 years:  142-261 IU/L
10 -15 years:  122-234 IU/L
15+ years:  140-271 IU/L

Stability

Sample stabile for 24 hours at room temp only.
